Radio amateur endorses my latest book

Last fall I published the book "The Imagined Conflict". One of the endorsers is John Lennox, with whom I share the radio amateur hobby. His callsign during his most active days was GI3NSP,  at present it is G3NSP.

The surprising faith of scientists

"The surprising faith of scientists" is the tentative title of a book manuscript just submitted. 

The book stems from a discovery I made some time after I had completed my university studies where I had studied theories named after the likes of Pascal, Ampere, Faraday, Maxwell, and Kelvin. The surprising thing was that all of these were devout Christians. It would turn out that there were many more of them.

Book rather than Blog

My blog has suffered in recent years and here is the reason. For three years now I have been writing a book entitled "Waves with Power-Law Attenuation". It is now in Springer's catalogue under classical and continuum physics and I'm also very happy that it is published in the Acoustical Society of America Press series.

The emphasis is on models for waves that experience attenuation that follows a power-law in frequency. Topic-wise it is more about mechanical than electromagnetic waves, but analogies are drawn between the two fields as many of the models are the same. Power-law models in electromagnetics are in particular useful for waves in biological tissue, which is indeed also the case for acoustic and elastic waves.

Digital Signal Processing

The Norwegian-language "The road to the international radio amateur license" came off the press this June. It is based on the RGSB International Amateur Radio Examination Manual from 2006, which RSGB graciously allowed us to use.

But the translation has been adapted on several topics. One example is the chapter on propagation due to the need in our country for more emphasis on propagation in polar regions and in mountainous terrain. Another is a completely new chapter on digital signal processing.
